Warminster is a town about 30 minutes’ drive south of Bath, and 45 minutes’ south of Bristol. It is home to around 18,000 residents, and dates back to the 10th century, although there is evidence of a settlement that dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period, and even some signs of prehistoric settlements. 

Interestingly, the town has a history with UFO sightings. Arthur Shuttlewood recorded the first sighting on the 25th of December in 1964 and kept a record of sightings over the next year before giving it to the Daily Mirror to publish. By Train: The Warminster train station services the GWR and South Western Railway lines. 

By Bus: There are several bus lines that run through Warminster, including 50, 53, 54, 56, 57 and 82. 

By Car: If you take the A36, you can be at Bath in just 30 minutes, and Bristol is only another 15 minutes away along the A4.

What is Warminster known for? 

The town actually has a bit of a reputation for its UFO sightings. On Christmas night in 1964, Arthur Shuttlewood claimed to have seen a UFO, and then continued to see them over the next year. The town eventually had a documentary made, and there were several books written about it.
