Dinton Pastures is a park stretching across 335 acres near Reading and Wokingham. It offers boat hire from April to September on weekends and bank holidays, and then 7 days a week through the Wokingham Borough Council school holidays. Dinton Pastures Country Park hosts a range of regular events, such as health walks and 5km runs on Saturday mornings, an outdoor cinema on Saturday nights in the summer, and even offers boat hire for use on the lake. Fishing is allowed in the lakes at Dinton Pastures Country Park. Black Swan Lake, White Swan Lake, and Twyford Reserve are only open to specimen group members, and there is a waiting list to join. You can purchase day tickets and season tickets to fish in the River Loddon. A casual day ticket costs £5 per rod, and you can have a maximum of 2 rods per person. A season ticket lasts a year and costs £75 per rod. For those under 16, unemployed, and disabled, there is a discounted cost of £55. The annual specimen group membership costs are as follows:

• White Swan Lake: £610 per person
• White Swan Lake (winter): £240 per person
• Black swan Lake: £610 per person
• Twyford Reserve: £250 per person
• River Loddon: £140 per person
• Gold ticket: £1200 per person

• Standard 6 months: £75.00
• Standard 12 months: £150.00
• Concessionary 6 months: £56.00
• Concessionary 12 months: £112.00  

Concessionary rates apply to those on the pension, and you will need to provide evidence of this (such as a pension number) when applying for a pass.

You’re about 15 minutes’ drive from Reading, where you’ll find historic spots like the Reading Abbey Ruins which date all the way back to 1121.
