Run and governed by volunteers, Progress Theatre is a local theatre group in Reading which was founded in 1946, making it the oldest producing theatre in the town. Since its inception it has staged an array of productions each year, with a particular focus on new plays, though it has also put on popular musicals and Shakespeare plays and runs an open air season in summer. Progress also has its own on-site bar.
