Derriford Hospital is a teaching hospital located in Plymouth, England. As well as Plymouth, the hospital serves the nearby areas of Devon and Cornwall. The hospital also provides tertiary cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and renal transplant surgery for the entire South West Peninsula, and was designated a Regional Trauma Centre in 2013. The hospital specialises in pancreatic cancer surgery, plastic surgery, and neonatal intensive care. In 2016, more than 48,000 people used the hospital every week.

In 2011, a purpose built dialysis unit was installed at the hospital and in 2012, the Peninsula Trauma Centre opened, which receives roughly 400 patients by air ambulance every year. In 2015 a new helipad was built at the hospital that is large enough to accept search and rescue helicopters.

Derriford Hospital is managed by the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, and as a teaching hospital is used for clinical training of medical students from the Peninsula Medical School.

If you are undergoing treatment that requires you to attend the hospital for at least 3 days in a week, you will be entitled to a day rate of £1.20 per day. If you are an oncology patient receiving treatment the daily rate is £1.20.

The following groups are entitled to free parking:

• Resident parents of children in hospital and parents with babies that are being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
• Relatives of patients who are critically ill, relatives of patients who are being cared for on the End of Life Care Pathway, and anyone visiting the bereavement office or collecting a death certificate. Members of the public that are donating blood can also park for free.
