Ferry Meadows, also known as Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, is a park in Peterborough, a town in the East of England. The park is accessible to pedestrians and cyclists at all times. During the summer (26 March to 29 October), vehicles can access the park from 6:30am to 9pm. During the winter (29 October to 25 March), vehicles can access the park from 6:30am to 6:30pm.
There is a visitor centre and gift shop which has mugs, ethical skincare products, environmentally friendly homeware, handmade soaps, and handmade dog treats. From 1 April to 1 November, it is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and from 2 November to 31 March it is open from 10am to 4pm.
The café has a view of Overton Lake and has indoor and outdoor eating dining options. The Lakeside Kitchen and Bar overlooks Gunwade Lake. There are also public toilets beside the visitors centre and the car park which are open during daylight hours. There are accessible toilets in both blocks, and in the toilets in the café.
There are three play areas across the park. The Otter Play area has sand pits and water features, as well as a slide, swings, and a log tunnel. The Badger Play area has climbing trunks, a slide, swings, and a trampoline. The Lakeside Play area has swings, a slide, rope net, a balance beam and a standing spinner.

Parking at Ferry Meadows
If you’re looking for parking at Ferry Meadows, there is an on-site car park at the park. It uses an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system and charges apply to all vehicles, all day, every day. When you arrive, cameras will record your vehicle registration number, and you don’t need to do anything until you go to leave. Enter your registration number into the payment machine and it will calculate how much you owe. Once you’ve paid, you’ll have 30 minutes to get back to your vehicle and leave the car park. The cost of using this car park is as follows:
- Peak times (8 am to 8 pm):
- Up to 1 hour: £1.70
- 1 to 1.5 hours: £2.20
- 1.5 to 2 hours: £2.80
- 2 to 2.5 hours: £3.30
- 2.5 to 3 hours: £3.90
- 3 to 3.5 hours: £4.40
- 3.5 to 4 hours: £5.00
- Over 4 hours: £5.50
- Off-peak times (8pm to 8am): 60p per hour
You can also purchase an annual membership for Ferry Meadows for £70. This will entitle you to free parking for the year, which is the same as paying £1.35 per week. The cameras as the car park will automatically recognise you, so you can come and go without having to visit the payment machines.
Please note that standard parking charges apply to blue badge holders, but all main car parks have designated disabled parking spaces.

By Train: The Peterborough train station is a 10-minute drive from Ferry Meadows and services the CrossCountry, E M R, Great Northern, LNER, Thameslink, and greateranglia lines.
By Bus: Several bus lines run by Ferry Meadows, including 23, 24, and X4 gold.
By Car: Ferry Meadows is about 10 minutes’ drive out of Peterborough, about an hour and a half from Birmingham.
