The train station is controlled by TransPennie Express (TPE) from Manchester airport to Middlesbrough and Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle. Also supplying trains on the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh and Grand Central (GC) between London’s Kings Cross and Sunderland.
During the week and on Saturdays, three TPE trains an hour run, southbound to Manchester via places such as Huddersfield, Leeds and York and northbound to Redcar via Middlesbrough. Two trains an hour run to Newcastle with one carrying on to Edinburgh Waverley. LNE Trains between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverly stop twice an hour every day at Northallerton station, and services from between London King’s Cross and Sunderland on the GC lines stopping at the station 5 times a day.
Northallerton train station was first launched in 1841 by the Great North of England Railway. In 1986 the station was totally renovated due to the demolishment of some buildings on the ‘up’ side of the train line. In 1991 the railway line through the station of Northallerton became electrified. This was accomplished by British Rail.
