Ninewells is an area in Dundee, a coastal city in eastern Scotland. The city lies on the River Tay, and is the 4th largest city in Scotland. There isn’t any council-managed parking in Ninewells, however, there are plenty of options in central Dundee. There are several car parks located throughout the city centre, as well as about 530 on-street parking spaces. 

The Arts Centre, Discovery, East Port, East Whale Lane (East Marketgait), Hilltown (West), Hunter Street North, Hunter Street South, Queen Street, Science Centre (East Marketgait), Science Centre (West Greenmarket), and South Tay Street car parks offer parking.

• Restricted pay on foot monthly ticket for Olympia & West Bell Street Multi-Storey Car Parks: £100
• Pay and display monthly ticket for Hunter Street North & South, East Whale Lane& Queen Street (Broughty Ferry) Car Parks: £110

The following costs apply for residents permits:

• City Centre: £120
• Broughty Ferry: £84
• Menzieshill: £20

The following costs apply for penalty charges:

• Off-Street Charge (excess parking time on a displayed ticket): £60

Free motorbike parking is available at the following locations:

• Cowgate
• Whitehall Crescent
• South Tay Street
• Exchange Street

If you would like to park your motorhome, East Whale Lane car park is the best place, but please contact 01382 432095 to make arrangements for this before you arrive. Please note that you cannot sleep, camp or cook while parked in any Dundee City Council car park.

The Ninewells Community Garden is located across from the hospital, and is run by volunteers for the community to use 7 days a week. The Riverside Nature Park lies where Dundee's old landfill used to be. Now, it’s a great spot to watch birds and enjoy views over the Tay Estuary. There have been over 130 species of birds on or near the park, and over 2000 trees have been planted here. 

In central Dundee, you can visit the V&A Dundee, the first dedicated design museum in Scotland. It’s all about creativity, and has over 12,000 pieces in their collection. Entry to the V&A is free, and there are also paid exhibitions to see. There’s a café, plus amazing views of the city and over the water from the upper floor. Right beside it is the RRS Discovery, a visitor attraction which tells the story of Captain Scott and his ship, the ‘Discovery’.

By Train: The Dundee train station is right in the city centre, and services the Caledonian Sleeper, CrossCountry, LNER and ScotRail lines. The Invergowrie train station is a 20-minute walk from the hospital and services the ScotRail line. 

By Bus: Several bus lines run through the area, including 9, 9C, 10, 16, 16B, 39, X7 and X54. 

By Plane: Dundee Airport is about 5 minutes’ drive from Ninewells.
