The University of Bolton is a public university located in Greater Manchester, England. 

The University traces its history back to the Bolton Mechanics’ Institute, founded in 1825. In 2004, it gained university status and at present, it has upwards of 6,000 students and 700 academic and professional staff. It has a reputation for offering research opportunities and vocationally focused, industry-driven, degree programmes. 

The primary campus is situated between Deane Road and Derby Street in Bolton.

Bolton One Short Stay Car Park: Access off Moor Lane, in front of the Bolton One building.

Senate House Visitor Car Park: Access off Derby Street.

Christ Church Gardens Car Park: Access via Deane Road, beside Senate House.

Chancellor’s Visitor Car Park: Access off University Way, next to the University Technical College.

Pro Chancellor’s Court Car Park: Access of Deane Road, adjacent to the Innovation Factory (A Block).

Student Car Park: Access off Back Baldwin Street. 

Additional parking can be found at the NCP Deane Road multi-storey public car park, Deane Road, Wellington Street, Bolton BL3 5DX, close to the university. The car park is open 24 hours, Monday to Sunday. Parking is free Saturday to Sunday and on bank holidays.

There is also free alternative University car parking available for staff and students at the Orlando Halls and Hollins Halls of Residence. A free shuttle bus operates to the main campus every 25 minutes, 9am-5pm. 

•       University staff must have a valid University ID card to operate the car park barriers.
•       Visitors of University employees are advised to be booked onto the visitors’ car park via the [email protected] email address and they must display the temporary visitor permit. 
•       Those wishing to leave their vehicle overnight must inform University Security on ext. 3700.

Bolton Market: Located in Ashburner Street, in the Bolton town centre, the market has a growing reputation for being the premier North West food market. The market is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

The Bolton Steam Museum: Boasting the largest collection of working mill steam engines in the UK, the Bolton Steam Museum harks back to Bolton’s heritage. In its heyday, Lancashire produced more than half the world’s supply of cotton textiles, with hundreds of mills spinning and weaving. Steam engines drove the machinery, with more than 10,000 engines at work.  

University of Bolton Stadium: A modern stadium with excellent facilities, from concerts to exhibitions to sporting events.

By Train: Bolton Station, located on Trinity Street, is a ten-minute walk from Bolton University.

By Bus: The Bolton Interchange is an easy ten-minute walk from Bolton University.

There are 24 disabled bays available at the Deane Road/Wellington Street NCP car park.

Parking at the NCP Deane Road/Wellington Street car park is free Saturday to Sunday and on bank holidays.
