The on-site parking at Edge Hill University is only available for permit holders. Only members of staff and registered students can apply for permits, and eligibility for permits depends on how far people have to travel and the availability of public transport. Please note that a permit does not guarantee a parking space due to the limited parking available on campus. 

New students at Edge Hill University will need to enrol and receive their student numbers before they can apply for a parking permit. If students are living in one of the university’s halls of residence are not eligible to park on campus. New members of staff will need to receive their employee number or payroll number from Human Resources before they can apply for a parking permit. 

The only way to reserve an Edge Hill University parking space on campus is through the car share scheme. At least two of the people in the vehicle must hold a valid parking permit. You will need to display these in your windscreen when you arrive, and arrive on campus before 10am. You will then need to give your booking confirmation number to the Car Parking Attendant, who will then direct you to where to park. 

If there isn’t any parking available on campus, there are a number of council-run car parks available throughout Ormskirk. 

You will find short-term parking available at the Bus Station, Lunesdale, Market Way, Park Pool, Park Road and Wheatsheaf. The maximum stay is up to 4 hours, and the costs are as follows:

• £1.00 for up to 3 hours
• £2.00 for up to 4 hours

The cost of parking at Hants Lane is as follows: 

• £1.00 for up to 3 hours
• £2.00 for up to 9 hours (maximum stay) 

You can purchase a permit to use Hants Lane car park for longer periods of time, with a months’ permit costing £30, and a year’s permit costing £250. 

The cost of parking at Hutton Way and The Stiles is as follows: 

• £1.00 for up to 3 hours
• £2.00 for up to 4 hours
• £3.00 for up to 9 hours (maximum stay) 

Parking at Derby Street will cost the following: 

• Monday to Friday:
• Free for up to 30 minutes (a parking ticket must still be displayed) 
• 70p for up to 1 hour
• £1.10 for up to 2 hours
• £1.60 for up to 3 hours
• £2.00 for up to 4 hours
• £3.00 for up to 9 hours
• Saturday:
• Free for up to 4 hours (a parking ticket must still be displayed) 
• £3.00 for up to 9 hours

All council car parks are free from after 5:30pm until 8am, as well as all day on Sundays and bank holidays.

By Train: The Ormskirk train station is a 20-minute walk from Edge Hill University and services the Merseyrail and northern lines.
