Warrington Hospital, or the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital, is located on Lovely Lane, just 20 minutes’ walk from the centre of Warrington. The hospital has an Accident & Emergency department, and a maternity ward where around 3,200 babies are born every year. The maternity ward was completely refurbished with ensuite facilities in 2013. The £7 million critical care unit is one of the best in the region, and Europe’s first 128-slice CT scanner opened at Warrington Hospital in January of 2012. The hospital also has a specially-designed dementia unit which has 21 beds. 

Warrington Hospital has a radio which runs 24 hours a day and has music, sports commentaries, as well as broadcasts from local events and also the Church of England Sunday service from the hospital chapel. There are a range of shops and places to buy food in the hospital, with a Subway, Costa Coffee, WHSmiths, WRVS gift shop, and a Stock Shop, plus a restaurant, café, and hairdressers.

There is plenty of on-site parking at Warrington Hospital. There are three main visitor car parks. Car park 1 is located at the main entrance to the hospital and is best for visiting the main wards, outpatients, and the Accident & Emergency department. Car park 2 is located opposite the Ophthalmology Centre, and is best for visiting Ophthalmology, MRI and the Cardio-Respiratory Department. Car park 3 is located next to Croft Wing and is best for visiting maternity and the children’s department. 

Warrington Hospital parking uses an automatic number plate recognition system. When paying at the parking machine, you’ll need to enter your car registration number, and you can pay at any point before you leave, so long as you make sure to pay for the time that you stay. You do not need to display your parking ticket when using the hospital’s car park, but you should keep your ticket as a receipt. 

The first 30 minutes of parking is free, but after that, the following charges apply: 

• Up to 2 hours: £2.50
• Up to 4 hours: £3.50
• Up to 6 hours: £5.00
• Up to 24 hours: £6.00

If you are going to be staying at the hospital for more than 24 hours, the charge is £6 per day.  For stays over 24 hours, saver passes are available for purchase from the cash office. The weekly saver pass will cost £10.00 per week, and the monthly saver pass will cost £30.00 per month. 

Cancer patients will need to present their appointment letter or treatment details to the cash office, who will add their registration number into the parking database for free parking. Renal patients will automatically have their details added to the database for free parking. 

Relatives of patients who are receiving ‘End of Life’ care are also eligible for free parking. They will need to ask the ward to contact the cash office to arrange this, and up to three vehicles at a time can be added to the parking database. 

The cash office can be found opposite PALS near the front of the hospital. It is open from Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.

By Train: The Warrington Central train station is a 23-minute walk from the hospital and services the E M R and northern lines.

The hospital has chaplains who regularly visit the wards, and there is always a chaplain on-call. There is a chapel on the ground floor of Burtonwood Wing, near wards B10 and B11. It has washing facilities for Muslim prayer and is open 24 hours a day. There is a Roman Catholic Mass on Saturdays at 11 am, and a general Holy Communion Service on Sundays at 10 am. This service is broadcast live on the hospital’s radio.
