Queen's Hospital is located on Belvedere Road in the large market town of Burton upon Trent (or just Burton), in the county of Staffordshire. It is overseen by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The Queen’s Hospital Burton, is the primary source of critical hospital services, to the locals of Burton-on-Trent, South Staffordshire and neighbouring regions of North West Leicester and South Derbyshire. The Queen’s Hospital Burton provides to a populace of around 360,000 people, where it is devoted in providing top class care to patients, that exceeds all expectations.
The Hospital facility dates back to 1884 when it was the Belvedere Union Workhouse. A hospital was later built on the same site and in 1948 after joining the National Health Service, became known as Burton District Hospital. A revamping of the hospital came in two phases, completed in 1972 and 1995, to enhance the town's medical facilities. In December 1995, the newly renovated facility was opened by her majesty the Queen and in appreciation of this feat, the facility was renamed in 1996 as Queen’s Hospital.
There is a 24 hour Accident and Emergency Department at Burton Queen’s Hospital, along with outpatient and clinical services, that includes pathology, radiology and enhanced therapies. Furthermore, the hospital boasts two CT and MRI scanners, it’s own breast care unit, a devoted suite for endoscopy, a contemporary maternity unit, an ophthalmology treatment centre and stroke facilities.
