Fistral Beach is located in the coastal town of Newquay, in the south of England. The beach is known as the home of British surfing. The International Surfing Centre was built in 2003 and hosts almost all of the biggest UK surfing competitions, including Famous Night Surf, Boardmasters Surf Championships, and the National Surf Championships.
There are lifeguards at the beach from April to October, and dogs are welcome all year round. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, there are plenty of restaurants and bars along the waterfront. The Fish House Fistral is known for its locally caught fish and shellfish, and the Stable Newquay has a panoramic window and live music every Sunday. You’ll also find stores here, like Ann’s Cottage; one of the largest retailers of surfwear and accessories for men, women and children in Europe.
Fistral Beach has a beach school which is open all year round, only closing on the 24th and 25th of December. It has lessons for beginners and advanced surfers, plus private, group, and family lessons available. You can also hire equipment such as foam boards, surfboards, kayaks, body boards, wetsuits, boots, socks, gloves, hoods, and rash vests.
