Willen Lake is a waterfront park just outside of the centre of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. It offers an urban high ropes course, and you can try a whole range of activities in the lake, including wakeboarding, canoeing, sailing, and paddleboarding. There is a café, a play area, and a circular route around both of the lakes. There is a 5km run every Saturday, and there are spaces to enjoy a barbeque out in the sun. You can even fish in certain areas of the lake. The Splash 'n' Play in Willen Lake is one of the UK’s largest outdoor splash parks and offers more than 60 unique water features. You can book a general session for  £5 per child, and it’s also available for private hire for things like birthday parties. 

Willen Lake is also home to a new 36-metre tall observation wheel. There are 24 gondolas which can each seat up to six people, and the 10-minute ride will give you unbeatable views of the park and the city around you.  The wheel is open every day from 11am to 7pm, and tickets start at £5 for individuals and £20 for families. The wheel is also completely wheelchair accessible, so anyone can enjoy it!

There are several options for parking at Willen Lake. The South Bay car park operates using a pay and display system, and the North Bay car park operates using an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. You can also purchase annual parking permits for these car parks for £150, with an £80 permit available for the Peace Pagoda and Tree Cathedral car parks only.

Where is Willen Lake located?

Willen Lake sits along the A509 on the edge of central Milton Keynes. 

What is there to do in the park? 

Willen Lake offers a boat hire centre, wakeboarding, open water swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, and windsurfing. There is also a high ropes course, an outdoor splash park, archery, observation wheel, table tennis, a miniature railway, as well as cycling, walking and running routes. Here, you’ll also find an Aqua Parc in the summer, and regular fun runs. There are 3km, 5km, and 10km routes available, and tickets to enter are completely free. There is also a monthly Women's Walking Network walk, which normally takes about two hours, and tickets start at just £1.00. 

What is there to do in town? 

The Milton Keynes Theatre can seat 1,400 people and hosts drama, dance, musical opera, comedy, and local community productions. If you want even more room to get out in the fresh air, check out Campbell Park which has picnic areas, water features, and a cricket pitch. The Centre is the local shopping centre which has a huge range of places to shop and eat.
