Malvern, a spa town and municipal parish that sits in Worcestershire, lies at the foot of a selected area of outstanding natural beauty. During the second world war, the town was an elected location for the British government in case of an immediate evacuation from London. The town itself hails from mainly Victorian roots, yet has Iron and Bronze Age origins, with the Priory Church and surroundings being the oldest part of the town, established in 1085.
Malvern has been linked for decades with its famous Malvern spring water and the therapeutic qualities attributed to it. Malvern water is natural spring water that runs from the Malvern Hills, bordering the Herefordshire and Worcestershire counties. Malvern was converted into a water cure town due to the Georgian and Victorian desire of using the water in a leisurely capacity. In 1845 the very first water cure house was constructed by Gully and Wilson, tWo doctors from Austria. Despite the discontinuation of the water cure in Malvern, an array of the striking former structures are still functional today as public buildings.
Malvern’s popularity didn’t decline, even after the deterioration of the water cure, and today the bustling beautiful town of Malvern provides a peek at Victorian history through the buildings, countryside and still in use gas lamps. It has become an exciting destination for shopping and reigns in popularity due to its setting in the hillside.

The church houses a beautiful stained glass collection, dating from early 15th to the 21st century, has the biggest medieval wall and floor tile assemblage along with 14th and 15th carved misericords. Many music concerts and other events are held in this beautiful church.
The exquisite Priory Park, previously called the Winter Gardens, is overflowing with stunningly mature trees, many of which were planted 150 years previous, at the time where gardens filled with as many exotic trees from all over the world was fashionable. A renovated Victorian bandstand originally built in 1875 is the stage of many Sunday afternoon free performances during the summer months and sits proudly in the grounds.
