There are plenty of wonderful restaurants to visit on Walmgate and Fossgate (Italian, Yemeni, Japanese, Korean, Polish, and Mexican to name a few), as well as plenty of bars and pubs, which are a 10-minute walk from either the parking spot or the Barbican. If you are here for the day, the city centre is only a 15-minute walk away, and means you don't need to worry about crowded car parks over the weekend visits! The space is also very close to the University of York if you are visiting students, or travelling for an Open Day. If you prefer to take the bus, there is a bus stop on Heslington road (2 min from the parking spot), where you can catch the U2 to the city centre (stopping along the Barbican, Clifford's Tower, York Dungeon, and the Opera House).
