There is plenty for visitors to explore at Lincoln Castle, including:

Medieval Wall Walk:

Offering stunning city and countryside views, this great stone curtain wall is considered one of the most dramatic features of Lincoln Castle today.

Visitors can walk the full circumference of the wall, which is a third of a mile long. Along the way, you can discover towers and dungeons, and you can also enjoy stunning views of the Lincoln Cathedral. The highest point is the Observatory Tower. It is a bit of a hike up the tower, but you will be rewarded with breathtaking views once you reach the top.

Victorian Prison:

History tells us that men, women and children as young as eight were held in this prison from 1848 to 1878. The prison has recently had an extensive refurbishment.

Magna Carta:

Lincoln Castle is the only place in the world where an original 1215 Magna Carta and 1217 Charter of the Forest can be seen side by side. Immerse yourself in history at the vault underground widescreen cinema with 210 degree wraparound screen and 3D sound.

By Train:

Lincoln Central train station is located in the city centre, within a 10-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from Lincoln Castle. The station serves direct lines to Lincoln from Newark, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leicester, Peterborough, Doncaster and London. By Taxi:

There is a taxi rank outside Lincoln train station. The ride to Lincoln Castle should take about 10 minute and cost roughly £4.50

By Bus:

Lincoln bus station is located in the city centre next to the train station.  Bus numbers 7, 8, 17 and 18 run between the bus station and Lincoln Castle.  

You should also consider the Lincoln Walk & Ride bus service, which links the Cathedral Quarter with the rest of the city. This service runs from Monday to Saturday.

By Bicycle

There are lock bikes available in the Castle Hill car park just, which is located outside the Castle’s East Gate entrance.

There is no visitor car parking available on site but there are several car parks available nearby the castle.

How much are tickets for the Lincoln Castle?

There are day tickets available which Include Medieval Wall Walk, Victorian Prison and Magna Carta. Standard adult tickets cost £14 if bought on site, or £12.60 if bought online in advance. Medieval Wall tickets only cost £10.00 for an adult.
