Leominster Priory Church was built in around the 13th century. In 1539, the east end of the church and the monastic buildings were destroyed, although the main body of the church survived. Eight of the ten bells of the Leominster Priory Church were cast in 1755, and the last two were cast in 1894. There used to be an abbey on the site of the church, possibly founded in the 7th century. It was destroyed, then rebuilt as Leominster nunnery, and then it is thought that Leominster Priory Church now sits where the nunnery was.
The National Trust's Croft Castle and Parkland can be found about 15 minutes’ drive from the town centre. The castle itself dates back to the 11th century, and the chapel is thought to date to around the 13 century. It is surrounded by 1,500 acres of woods, park and farmland and has a walled garden with a glasshouse, orchard and vineyard. You can stay in holiday cottages, B&Bs, bunkhouses, or even set up a tent if you want to stay for a little while.
