Say goodbye to range anxiety – a new partnership between YourParkingSpace and Zap-Map is set to make pre-book electric vehicle charging available to drivers across the UK.
For the first time, motorists will be able to purchase charging in tandem with their parking space reservations. In turn, owners of driveways equipped with home charging points will be able pocket a generous side income by advertising this service online.
Zap-Map is the UK’s number one web platform for finding an EV charge point, boasting a comprehensive inventory of 10880 charging devices listed across the country. Until now, there has been no way to preview costs or book a time slot to ensure that the parking space is vacant when you arrive.
YourParkingSpace will provide innovative booking technology allowing customers to book charging directly through Zap Map. Drivers will be able to search the map for YourParkingSpace locations with EV charging points, place a booking and pay online in advance. The price for parking in these spaces will include the cost of charging your car.
Harrison Woods, CEO of YourParkingSpace, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for driveway owners with a charge point to make some extra money as the electric revolution takes off, especially given the fact that the Government is committed to banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in just over 20 years.
“It also means EV owners can leave their cars to top-up on juice as they enjoy other activities such as going to the shops, watching a football match or having a meal.”
The time required to charge an EV using a home charger can vary, though as a guideline, one of the UK’s most popular electric cars takes about four hours. This makes charging-enabled driveway rentals an ideal solution for drivers on a day trip, so their vehicle is fully charged for the journey home.
Dr Ben Lane, CTO and co-founder at Zap-Map added:
“We are delighted to be partnering with YourParkingSpace.co.uk on this ground-breaking EV charging point and pre-book parking space collaboration.
“The partnership will give registered Zap-Map users direct access to YourParkingSpace’s growing number of EV charging spaces across the UK. The joint venture will, in the future, provide a new opportunity for Zap-Map users to monetise their home or workplace EV charge points by advertising their points on the YourParkingSpace website.”
