Order books have opened for Tesla's Model Y in the UK, with the taller version of the huge-selling Model 3 saloon due to start £54,990.
A headline driving range of 315 miles is available from the Long Range model, which drops to 298 miles on a charge for the Performance version.
The Model Y Long Range is hardly sluggish with a 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds, though that is cut to just 3.5 seconds for the Performance model.
Both are fitted with dual electric motors for all-wheel drive, with the Model Y unusual for an EV in that there is the ability to tow, as well as a seven-seater option available.
Rivals include the likes of VW's ID.3, the Ford Mustang Mach E, and the Mercedes Benz EQB. A cheaper, Standard Range version is expected to arrive in due course.
Charging can be carried out at up to 250 kW DC, with the Tesla Supercharger network or other CCS-fitted 250+ kW high-power chargers capable of adding 75 miles in just five minutes, or almost 160 miles in a quarter of an hour.
Prices start at £54,990 for the Long Range model, and £54,990 for the Tesla Model Y Performance. Deliveries are expected in the UK from early next year.
