Kia's EV6 has won the prestigious Car of the Year 2022 title, beating the Renualt Megane E-Tech and Hyundai Ioniq 5 to crown an all-electric top three.
The odds of that happening were always fairly high, since five of the six finalists were pure-EV only models. Even the sixth is available as a plug-in hybrid.
Judged by 59 motoring journalists from 22 European countries, the Kia EV6 came out ahead of the soon-to-arrive Renault Megane E-Tech, and Hyundai Ioniq 5, with the latter sharing a platform and powertrain with the EV6.
Peugeot's 308 came in fourth spot, which will arrive in plug-in hybrid form in due course, with the Skoda Enyaq iV, Ford Mutang Mach-E, and Cupra Born rounding out the finalists.
Kia's latest electric model has a range of up to 328 miles, and can charge from 10-80% in just 18 minutes from a high-power charge point.
