Bude, is a laid back well-liked coastal haven and Cornwall’s most northern town. It has been recognised as a popular seaside destination dating back to the Victorian times. Bude, via public vote, was named the Best UK Coastal Town in 2016, 2017 and 2018 at the British Travel Awards and has won a string of Gold and Silver awards. It lies near the Devon border, making it an ideal location for day trips to see some Devonshire towns.

Bude prides itself on its array of sandy beaches and is a top surfing destination, especially the beach Crackington Haven. It also established the first life saving Club. The town of Bude during the 19th century, was infamously known for shipwrecks, with well over 80 wrecked vessels occurring in a 50 year span to 1874. One of the wrecks figurehead, the Bencoolen, that was wrecked in 1862 resides in the town's museum.

There is no charge overnight from 6pm to 9am in ANY of the paid car parks in Bude UNLESS stated otherwise. Widemouth Bay Car Park (EX23 0AW) – Long stay

Wharf Car Park (EX23 8LG) – Long stay

Bude is a tourist retreat for all, it is bustling with sandy beaches, beautiful walks and plenty of activities to partake in.  

Visit the ever spectacular Bude Castle, a castellated mansion, built in 1830 by the inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney,  that has a view over the wonderful Summerleaze beach. Summerleaze Beach is home to Budes number one visited attraction with nearly 50,000 people calling in on it yearly. The Bude Sea Pool offers a safe, free and unhindered place to swim in and has been a fan favorite since the 1930s. Cornwall has great public transport, making it easy to get around, you can get to Bude via bus from Boscastle, Tintagel, Newquay, Padstow, Truro and many more places.

From Exeter St Davids train station you can get the 6 or 6A bus direct to Bude.

By Car:

Accessible from the M5 via Junction 27 towards Bideford and Barnstaple or continue on the M5 further towards Exeter.

From the M5 North, exit via Junction 30 is via the Okehampton bypass or Junction 27 towards Bude.

In all car parks, excluding those free of charge, there are spaces for blue badge holders and they must pay the normal required pay and display parking fees for their stay and display their blue badge and clock with the time correctly set upon their arrival.

That is unless they have a registered vehicle under the Cornwall Councils exemption scheme, or the vehicle has been specially adapted for a disabled person.

Blue badge holders who display their blue badge and clock correctly and have paid at one of the pay and display machines, their fee for parking, will automatically receive an extra hour on top of the time they have paid.

For example, if you have paid for 2 hours of parking, you are able to park for 3 hours.
