The Royal Sussex County Hospital is a critical training hospital in Brighton. This popular seaside destination is part of the city of Brighton and Hove and is situated on the south coast, in the East Sussex region of England.
The Royal Sussex county hospital is overseen by the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals trust, alongside its sister hospital the Princess Royal. It was opened in June of 1828 as the Sussex county hospital and had multiple additions added to it, before it became the Royal Sussex County Hospital In 1911.
The hospital has its own 24 hours a day seven days a week Accident and Emergency department (A&E) and also offers a range of key services which includes cancer facilities at the Sussex Cancer Centre, maternity wings, cardiac surgeries and neonatal (NICU) and adult intensive care (ICU) units. Offering expert and specialist arterial vascular surgery, paediatrics, cancer, renal, cardiac, neurosciences, infectious diseases and HIV medicine services.

Royal Sussex county hospital has its own private pay on foot car park, that has 20 disabled bays on offer on levels six and six A, providing direct entry into the hospital. Outside of the A&E are four drop off only bays which are attainable on a first come first serve basis, you must not park in these bays and they are for drop off only. Alongside this, there are a small amount of pick up and drop off bays in the entrance of the multi-storey car park and these spaces are available for a period of 20 minutes, if cars are parked in these bays longer than 20 minutes, then they will need to pay the necessary amount for a ticket for the hours required.
The car park is open Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day.
Charges for the car park are as follows:
- Less than 2 hours - £2.50
- 2 to 4 hours - £3.80
- 4 to 6 hours - £5.00
- 6 to12 hours - £10.00
- 12 to 24 hours - £18.00
- Over 24 hours - £18.00 plus the appropriate charge above for any additional time parked.
There are discounts on parking for cancer patients, patients who are in hospital long term and the relatives or carers of cancer or long term patients. Those parking opposite the New Macmillan Horizon can obtain a parking permit from the Cancer Centre.
Those who are undertaking long term dialysis can park for free and there are also six bays dedicated for renal patients who attend regularly.
