Alresford is a generous sized cute Georgian town and civil parish that lies in the Winchester City district in the Hampshire region in the South of England.

In the 14th century Alresford rapidly became recognised as a flourishing market town, centred around leather, wool and other goods from cattle and sheep. The sheep market in Alresford produced one of the five highest earnings in England.

In 2018 the Sunday Times names Alresford as the 3rd best rural place to live in the UK. The town has cute dense Georgian streets. The colour-washed Georgian houses around today grew from the ashes of the 17th century great fires, with many maintaining their original 13th century cellars.

Along with the Watercress Line which is a steam heritage railway that runs along 10 miles of stunning countryside from Alresford to Alton. The railway got its name from the town's involvement in watercress farming and it is now renowned as Britain’s capital of watercress. There are three pay and display car parks in Alresford. By Train:

Alresford has the Mid Hants railway line which runs the old steam railways and takes 30 minutes to Alton. Or a 25 minute drive.

Alton is a national rail station and has trains going into London Waterloo every 30 minutes.

Winchester train station is a 20 minute drive away or a half an hour bus. The station has arrivals and departures in London Waterloo, Manchester Piccadilly, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth.

By Bus:

There are regular bus services from Winchester, Southampton (via Winchester), Alton and Petersfield all stopping in Alresford.

The stagecoach bus 64, runs every day at regular intervals from Winchester to Alresford.

By Car:

Alresford sits just off the A31 between Winchester and Alton. It is joined by the M3 which runs throughout the South and straight into London. It is met by various other arterial routes that run throughout the country meaning getting to Alresford is relatively easy.

By Plane:

Southampton airport is a 23 minute drive away from Alresford or a 57 minute bus and train journey.
