Parking in Kensington
Information about parking in Kensington
Kensington is a district in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London. Located in the heart of London, the area is bustling with museums, galleries, monuments and other tourist attractions, making it a wonderful place to visit. However, with so much to see and do there, it’s no wonder that car parking in Kensington is not always easy to find.
London is known for its high prices, but Kensington prices are even higher than the London average, making it difficult to park in the area without spending a lot. Parking charges on some streets rise to over £5 per hour, and it’s difficult to find an off-street car park in Kensington at a reasonable price.
However, the biggest problem for motorists in the area is not the price of parking - it’s the availability of parking. Spots near all the popular tourist attractions are in high demand, and your chances of finding a free space after 10am on weekdays are very slim as the early commuters are quick to snap up all available car parking in Kensington in the mornings.

Public Transport
Car
Kensington is well connected to surrounding areas by road. The A4 Cromwell Road links Kensington to Central London on the east and to Hounslow and Heathrow Airport on the west.
Train
Kensington is served by four stations: High Street Kensington, Gloucester Road, South Kensington and Kensington (Olympia). The Circle line stops at three of these, connecting the district to London’s railway terminals, and the area is also served by the District line, the Piccadilly line and the West London line.
Disabled Parking
Because of the serious parking problems in central London, Kensington does not have the same Blue Badge concessions as the rest of the country. In Kensington, Blue Badge holders can park in Pay and Display bays, where they have one hour’s free parking after the time they have paid for has run out, and on yellow lines for up to 20 minutes, as long as there is no loading or unloading restriction.
Blue Badge holders in Kensington can also park for free in special Blue Badge parking bays, for up to four hours from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 6.30pm, and for as long as they want outside these hours.
Overnight, weekends & bank holidays
On bank and public holidays, Pay and Display parking is free and restrictions do not apply to resident permit bay parking.
Single yellow line waiting restrictions apply on bank holidays and on Good Friday, but do not apply on Sundays (including Easter Sunday) and Christmas Day.
Double yellow line restrictions apply on every day of the year.
